Revelation 17: 4 – 5 (amp):
4, the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold, Precious stones and pearls, [and she was] holding in her hand a gold cup full of the abominations and the Filth of her [sexual] immorality.

A Biblical study of the history of Babylon and Jonah's Ninevite commission shows us that there is a powerful message that emerges for all three Abrahamic religions. Unraveling the real significance of Iraq in the end-time requires us going beyond geopolitics to the intersection in the spiritual and natural realm between Nineveh and Babylon.
Nineveh was on the east bank of the Tigris in ancient Assyria, across the river from the modern city of Mosul, Iraq. Historical research shows us that Assyrian religion, like that of most near eastern nations, was polytheistic, meaning they recognized and even worshipped many gods, and it was essentially the same as the Babylonian religion.
The name Babylon comes from the Greek form of Babel, the Semitic form Babilu, meaning "The gate of god.” in the Assyrian tablets, it means "The city of the dispersion of the tribes."
